The manic-depressive Mr. Jones (Richard Gere) exhibits irrational behavior, ranging from seducing strangers on the street to spontaneously joining a symphony concert -- and then there are the lows. But Jones's treatment involves more than medication when he meets Dr. Libbie Bowen (Lena Olin), a lovely psychiatrist who starts to fall for her handsome patient. The harder she tries to cure him, the easier it is to surrender to his charms.
