My Geisha
(1962)|
Shirley MacLaine is Lucy Dell, an actress who disguises herself as a geisha in order to land a lead role in her director husband's (Yves Montand) film version of "Madame Butterfly." Assisting in her ruse is the film's producer, played by a well-cast Edward G. Robinson. Shot in Japan, this lavishly produced romantic comedy with a few unexpected twists was directed by legendary cinematographer Jack Cardiff and was nominated for an Academy Award.
