In 1959, Marita Lorenz (Gabrielle Anwar) finds herself captivated by the young, charismatic Fidel Castro (Joe Mantegna), the new leader of Cuba. Against the wishes of her mother (Jill Clayburgh), who works for the CIA, Marita goes to Cuba, meets Castro and begins an affair. As her idea of Castro changes over time, Marita is asked to perform a difficult task -- to assassinate the man she thought she loved -- in this fact-based drama.
