A devout Catholic (Jean-Louis Trintignant) meets up with a Marxist friend he hasn't seen in 14 years, and both men wind up spending the evening in deep philosophical conversations about love and religion with a young divorcee named Maud (Francoise Fabian). Part of writer-director Eric Rohmer's "Six Moral Tales" film series, My Night at Maud's earned Oscar nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Foreign Film.
