Nadine Hightower (Kim Basinger) and her estranged hubby, Vernon (Jeff Bridges), burglarize a photographer's office to retrieve compromising shots of Nadine. But when the shutterbug ends up dead and the panicked pair grabs the wrong folio, their troubles quickly double. Turns out they've uncovered a conspiracy involving a new Texas highway, and now they must evade not only the cops but also a scheming land baron in this likable caper comedy.
