After the abbess (Edith Evans) of a convent passes away before formally naming her successor, conservative Sister Alexandra (Glenda Jackson) employs sneaky techniques to win a convent election against sexually liberated Sister Felicity (Susan Penhaligon). Featuring many plot details that mirror Richard Nixon's Watergate scandal, this comic allegory also stars Jerry Stiller, Rip Torn and Eli Wallach.
