Troubled Anna Robinson (Susan Hampshire) moves to the barren Isle of Jersey to put her life back together and soon enters into a passionate affair with the local lighthouse keeper, George (Frank Finlay). The new couple flees to Scotland, where George dies tragically. Soon, the inconsolable Anna is haunted by George's ghost. Director Fred Burnley's lyrical 1972 film deftly integrates elements of the fantasy, drama and horror genres.
