Balachander, this affecting 1979 tale stars Kamal Hassan as Chandru and Rajnikanth as Deepak -- a vocalist and guitarist, respectively -- who journey to Singapore as part of a performance troupe. Enter Sona (Jayapradha), a beautiful but manipulative woman who soon wins Chandru's heart yet seems incapable of making a commitment … which may have something to do with her medical condition.
