When Antoni Zyro (Jerzy Radziwilowicz), hero of the Gdansk shipyard strikes, dies in an accident, his spirit hovers for several weeks and watches what happens to his wife, Ula (Grazyna Szapolowska), and the Solidarity cause he championed in this drama directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski. Ula takes up her husband's banner fight for workers' rights and democracy, but through it all, she feels the absence of her husband very deeply.
