At the close of World War II, while stationed in Soviet-occupied Berlin, a Russian officer falls in love with a local girl. But when he's called back home, their affair is cut short, and they lose contact. Years later, he returns to Berlin to find her, no easy task amid the postwar political turmoil. Ivan Desny and Ruth Niehaus star in this romantic melodrama from Germany, winner of the 1955 Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film.
