While visiting the degenerate town of Bath, Gothic-romance-novel addict Catherine Moreland (Katherine Schlesinger) gets invited to Northanger Abbey, the ancestral estate of debonair Henry Tilney (Peter Firth), where a foreboding mystery begins to unfold. Catherine's vivid imagination runs wild, while her family tries to focus her thoughts on searching for a wealthy husband in this adaptation of Jane Austen's enduring tome.
