This Emmy-winning miniseries chronicles the life of Lucy Honicut (Diane Lane), who, after wedding unhinged Confederate veteran William Marsden (Donald Sutherland) -- a man 30 years her senior -- spends most of their married life together playing nursemaid to him. Anne Bancroft assumes the role of Lucy at age 99, who narrates her remarkable story from a rest home. Cicely Tyson delivers a flawless performance as Lucy's maid and sounding board.
