Elizabeth Robidaux (Hallie Foote) defies her disapproving parents by marrying a young man with iffy prospects. But the young couple soldiers on despite the fact that she's pregnant and their financial situation borders on precarious. Matthew Broderick is terrific as Elizabeth's misunderstood son in this affecting drama written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Horton Foote (To Kill a Mockingbird, Tender Mercies).
