During the Sino-Japanese war, Chinese commander in chief Zhu De led the Eighth Route army across the Huanghe River to confront the invading Japanese army. With limited support, the unit won 11 important campaigns from September 1937 to May 1940, including a surprise attack on a Japanese airport and a battle during which the Japanese commanding officer was shot down. Tony Leung, Wong Wufu and Xu Guangming star in this compelling historical drama.
