A group of Irish Catholic immigants persecuted for their beliefs deserts the U.S. Army and flees to Mexico. Captured by bandits, the soldiers switch allegiances and form St. Patrick's Battalion, one of Mexico's best fighting units in the 1846 war with America. In the midst of the battle, love blooms between Irish leader Riley (Tom Berenger) and Mexican beauty Marta (Daniela Romo) -- who's also the lover of the guerilla captain.
