In this bittersweet drama, a cancer-ravaged woman named Sarah (Valerie Edmond) returns to her small hometown in Scotland and asks her former sweetheart, Sam (Gerard Butler), to help her fulfill her final wishes. Sam's wife, Charlotte (Valerie Gogan), believing the two still love each other, disapproves. Yet Sam agrees to help Sarah, and together, they set about recapturing the joy of life they once shared -- but at what cost to Sam?
