Filmmaker Garin Nugroho combines Javanese song, wayang puppet theater, sacred court dance, gamelan music and Mozart in this rich adaptation of "The Abduction of Sita" from the ancient epic Ramayana. The story centers on two former dancers (Artika Sari Devi and Martinus Miroto), now earning a living as pottery makers, and the wealthy local (Eko Supriyanto) who threatens to destroy their marriage.
