The heretical Morten Borgen (Henrik Malberg) raises hackles in a pious Danish town, while his three sons -- romantically star-crossed Mikkel (Emil Hass Christensen), agnostic Anders (Cay Kristiansen) and fanatical Johannes (Preben Lerdorff Rye) -- wrestle with faith in their own ways. This stirring meditation on belief and religion from renowned Danish director Carl Theodor Dreyer scored the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film in 1956.
