During the Paraguayan-Bolivian Chaco War of the 1930s, a rural couple, Ramón (Ramon Del Rio) and Candida (Georgina Genes), focuses on their daily routines as they await the return of their son from battle. Writer-director Paz Encina evokes the resolve of both the characters and their native country in this haunting film, winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and the first Paraguayan feature film since the 1970s.
