Passing Fancy

  (1933)
A man and his relationship with his son are at the center of this comedic drama that marks the first of director Yasujiro Ozu's "everyman" films. While impoverished widower Kihachi (Takeshi Sakamoto) dodges responsibility, his son Tomio (Tomio Aoki) is quite the opposite. And the difference becomes that much more pronounced when Kihachi begins to fall for a pretty young woman who is in love with his best friend.
