Discontented Princess Maria (Olivia de Havilland) boards a plane bound for San Francisco on the advice of her uncle (Charles Coburn), who hopes the trip will cheer her up. Her sojourn is cut short, however, when bad weather grounds the flight. Unaware of Maria's royal identity, the charming pilot (Robert Cummings) takes her in as a temporary houseguest, and the two are soon smitten with each other. But will her blue blood hinder their romance?
