The American Dream doesn't square with the justice system in this urban drama that chronicles the corrosion of the soul of Elijah Dixon (Q-Tip), an inner-city black male raised in group homes who lifts himself up through art and education. But frustration and anger lead Elijah to unintentionally kill another teen when his full college scholarship is revoked. Convicted and jailed, Elijah again attempts to free his broken spirit through art.
