Excerpts from Italian composer Giacomo Puccini's most famous operas -- including "Madama Butterfly," "La Boheme" and "Turandot" -- pepper this lavishly produced biopic filmed on location in Italy, a film that tracks the arc of the artist's professional life. The plot centers on Puccini's (Gabriele Ferzetti) romantic encounters with three women: an elegant singer (Nadia Gray), a simple beauty (Marta Toren) and a tragic servant (Miriam Bru).
