Feeling burdened by her real-estate job and floundering marriage, writer Patti (Selma Blair) hasn't been able to fulfill her potential or her dreams. But when she reconnects with her college boyfriend, crime novelist Brian (Patrick Wilson), things change for Patti. As their connection deepens, their friends, former lovers Kate (Debra Messing) and Murphy (Edward Burns, who also wrote and directed), deal with fallout from their past relationship.
