Actor turned director Richard Benjamin helmed this moving drama. On the brink of adulthood in small-town Northern California, teens Henry (Sean Penn) and Nicky (Nicolas Cage) try to have a last hurrah before joining the Marines, who are off fighting in World War II. But when Henry falls in love with newcomer Caddie (Elizabeth McGovern), and Nicky lands in trouble, the youngsters find themselves in a grown-up world all-too soon.
