In this riveting morality tale with a somber message, working-class Englishman Bob Williams (Bruce Jones) supplements his meager government assistance with petty scams to support his wife (Julie Brown) and young daughter, Coleen (Gemma Phoenix). But as his little girl prepares for her Holy Communion, the proud Bob will risk anything -- even his salvation -- to prevent her from wearing a hand-me-down dress to the ceremony.
