These four short films -- "Mars Canal," "Mirror Hell," "Caterpillar" and "Crawling Bugs" -- are based on stories by Japanese mystery writer Rampo Edogawa and explore dark themes of obsession, sex and death. A naked man wanders alone through a swamp recalling a former lover; a serial killer has a fixation on hand mirrors; a crippled veteran and his sadistic wife deal with their unhealthy relationship; and a chauffeur plots to seduce a starlet.
