Real Life
(1979)|
In his directorial debut, actor and funnyman Albert Brooks plays himself, a comedian who sets out to film a documentary of the typical American family -- in this case, a family of four headed by Arizona veterinarian Warren Yeager (Charles Grodin) and his wife (Frances Lee McCain). The film is inspired by (and satirizes) the 1970s PBS series "An American Family," which is often credited as the first true "reality TV" show.
