After bonding as college roommates, Merry Noel (Candice Bergen) and Liz (Jacqueline Bisset) evolve into disparate women, but they stay connected in this witty tale chronicling their turbulent 20-year friendship. The film marked two important cinematic milestones: It was the first for Meg Ryan (who plays Bergen's 18-year-old daughter) and the swan song for legendary director George Cukor. David Selby and Steven Hill also star.
