When a "devil horse" named Duke is falsely accused of killing a rancher and sentenced to death, John Drury (John Wayne) hopes to acquit the horse by finding the real murderer. Aided by Henry Sims (Frank Hagney), Drury pursues The Hawk, a bank robber he thinks committed the crime. But Sims has a secret that may halt Drury's search. Ruth Hall and Otis Harlan co-star in this classic Western based on a Kenneth Perkins novel.
