Ringmaster Clyde Beatty (playing himself) brings his circus to town and feels hexed after calamities start to befall everyone in the troupe. But when the mishaps turn into murders, Beatty calls for help in the form of author Mickey Spillane, who rides in to apply his crime-solving prowess to the puzzle -- with assistance from none other than John Wayne. Pat O'Brien portrays lawman Frank Wallace in this big-top drama.
