Ben Madigan (Tom Long) has just started a new job. Once there, he comes under the tutelage of a jaded John Kreisky (Bryan Brown), who uses Ben's innocence to his advantage, enlisting the young man in an "experiment." What seems at first like a simple plan to save the company money turns into an elaborate scam to defraud it.
