After her relationship with a Maori man leads to pregnancy, Sarah (Samantha Morton) -- the daughter of an Irish doctor (Stephen Rea) -- raises her son until he's kidnapped by Maori tribesmen in this epic set in 1860s New Zealand. Still searching for him years later, she enlists the aid of Maori warrior Wiremu (Cliff Curtis) and soon finds herself torn between her passion for Wiremu and the security offered by an Irish soldier (Kiefer Sutherland).
