Director Jean Negulesco's film noir drama stars Ida Lupino as Lily Stevens, a sultry chanteuse from Chicago who sparks an intense rivalry between nightclub owner Jefty Robbins (Richard Widmark) and his childhood friend, Pete Morgan (Cornel Wilde). When Lily rebuffs Jefty's advances and cozies up to Pete instead, the jealous bar owner goes to extremes to enact his revenge. Celeste Holm and O.Z. Whitehead co-star.
