A group of young people struggles to make sense of their lives in this dramatic film. Bharat (Manoj Kumar) is an unemployed, illiterate young man who's overwhelmed by life, and Sheetal (Zeenat Aman) is the young woman in love with him. Tulsi (Moushmi Chatterji) is a poor laborer with a baby, and Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) is a rebel with a cause. Together, these young people take on a world that's out to get them.
