Young Jute Amled (Christian Bale) avenges his father's murder at the hands of his dissembling uncle, only to be banished to Scotland for the deed. But Amled has other plans, and soon practices a little deception of his own. The film is a retelling of Shakespeare's Hamlet, based on the original Danish tale, but with a rougher, more Viking feel than the Bard's classic version. Helen Mirren and Kate Beckinsale co-star.
