In the humorous opener to Season 6, barrister Claude Erskine-Brown (Julian Curry) is served a mouse at a restaurant, and Rumpole (Leo McKern) must defend the pompous chef on environmental health charges. In the finale, Rumpole prosecutes accused of theft Erskine-Brown. In between episodes, Rumpole goes to sea. And always on hand to drive our hero mad is his long-suffering wife, Hilda (Marion Mathie).
