Mohan (Sunil Dutt) and his mother (Leela Chitnis) share a loving bond, but after a debilitating accident, it looks as if the end is near for her. Mom's last wish is to see her son happily married (which isn't likely to happen soon enough). A neighbor gets a cousin to play the part of the bride-to-be until Mohan's mother dies. The girl endears herself to the old lady, and Mohan actually begins to fall for her.
