Peter Bogdanovich directs and co-stars in this engrossing character study about an American pimp in 1970s Singapore. Jack Flowers (Ben Gazzara) makes a tidy profit pandering to businessmen, but the mob doesn't cotton to competition and destroys his livelihood. But thanks to shady Eddie Schuman (Bogdanovich), Jack is soon back in business -- until he's offered a sweet deal for some compromising photos. Will he sell his soul, or find his conscience?
