Buddhist monk Genjo Sanzo and his warrior compatriots Son Goku, Cho Hakkai and Sha Gojyo continue their quest to prevent the rebirth of powerful demon king Gyoumao in this follow-up to Saiyuki. As the foursome confronts assassins around every corner, an impassable creek, a corrupt temple priest and a raft of other obstacles, tensions escalate and a battle of egos erupts, threatening to rip the group apart.
