Singer Sam Cooke is truly a legend, one who's inspired scores of musicians who have risen to fame in his wake. This film documents the rise of a true talent, from his beginnings as a gospel singer to his eventual crossover to the pop and R&B charts. His music ascended to greater heights, becoming the soundtrack to the civil rights battle in the country. Included are interviews with Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls and more.
