No one in televisionland knew what hit them when Redd Foxx came on the scene as the irreverent Fred Sanford, a cantankerous junk dealer with a heart of gold who, with his son, Lamont (Demond Wilson), dreams of fame and riches. The second season of the critically acclaimed series produced by Norman Lear brought the characters even further into the homes and hearts of the watching public and solidified the show's place in television history.
