Teenage dreamer Amanda Forrest (Tegan Moss) sees old-timer John McRae (Hume Cronyn) leap off a bridge into frigid water. After attempting a rescue, she's shocked to learn that John's dive was merely part of a recreational swim. Accompanying him home, Amanda discovers that John and his wife (Joan Gregson) sleep in saltwater tanks, eat algae and drink seaweed tea -- and that they could be mermaids. Vic Sarin directs this charming fable.
