Stripped of rank and exiled to an outpost populated exclusively by men, Roman soldier Sebastiane is shocked to find he's been sent to a hotbed of homoeroticism. When his devotion to God causes him to rebuke the advances of a superior officer, Sebastiane becomes a target for vengeance. This visually stunning debut by director Derek Jarman sparked a world of controversy upon its initial release because of its explicit depiction of homosexuality.
