American fans of Jane Austen will welcome this 1971 BBC miniseries adaptation of her classic 19th-century tale about a pair of sisters who must marry well or sink into poverty when their father suddenly passes away. Never broadcast on this side of the Atlantic, the series stars Joanna David and Ciaran Madden as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, respectively, with Robin Ellis and Clive Francis playing the suitors that woo them.
