In 1957, Professor Bernhard Grzimek and his son Michael arrived in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park to film the wildebeest migration. Along with cameraman Alan Root, in their zebra-striped airplane, they followed the animals for two years. Tragically, Michael died in a plane crash halfway through the filming, but his father and Root went on to create this Oscar-winning documentary that alerted the world to the plight of Africa's wildlife.
