Irma (Sue Johnston) and Ellie (Gillian Kearney) Brookes are twins with radically different personalities growing up in 1965 Manchester, England. Rock-and-roll is invading the nation, and boisterous Arden loves the hoopla, while bookish Ellie shuns it. Life would be fairly simple if that were the only problem; however, they've also both fallen for a wanna-be rock star.
