An elderly black man (and ex-slave) returns to the Virginia plantation where he was born -- to die. There, he encounters the plantation's new occupants, a family of struggling white farmers. Harvey Keitel and Andie MacDowell star as the hardscrabble Dabney family; the Dabneys help their visitor while confronting a past they didn't create. Shadrach was a labor of love for director Susanna Styron.
 Parents strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
