Shoah
(1985)|
Director Claude Lanzmann's devastating Holocaust documentary sheds light on one of the darkest periods in the history of humankind. With more than nine hours of footage, the film relies solely on testimony from survivors, witnesses and perpetrators. Eschewing archival footage, Lanzmann interviews each subject -- many at length -- beginning with Simon Srebnik, one of only two Jews who survived the Chelmno death camp.
