After a five-year prison stint for killing a man to protect her crooked gambler boyfriend, Jenny Marsh (Patricia Knight) is determined to go straight. Her parole officer, Griff Marat (Cornel Wilde), wants to help her and soon falls hard for the felon. Jenny is tempted by her former boyfriend's wealth, but in this film-noir classic directed by Douglas Sirk, Griff's blind mother helps the couple see what they really want.
